Your ONE Day Bahamas Itinerary:
If you’re planning a one-day visit to The Bahamas, chances are you’ll be arriving via cruise ship. This is a great way to get a little taste, but let’s make sure you get the most out of your time!
For most visitors, the number one priority in The Bahamas is the beach. The island’s gorgeous beaches offer unbelievably soft sand and crystal clear water that’s always generally shallow, warm, and calm.
On your one-day visit to The Bahamas, spend at least part of your day enjoying one of the area’s top beaches, like Blue Lagoon Island, Pearl Island Beach, or the world-famous Cable Beach.
Looking for a little more adventure? Try an excursion like snorkeling, kayaking, or a romantic sunset cruise. Just be sure to return to your ship before final boarding!
Your 2-3 Day Bahamas Itinerary:
Escaping to The Bahamas for a quick weekend getaway? Lucky you! You’ll have just enough time to sample the highlights of this magnificent Caribbean gem.
For a quick getaway, plan to spend your arrival day at your resort. No matter which location you choose, you’re sure to have plenty of options, from a lazy beach day to water parks, casinos, and more. Still, travel tends to tire us out – so check in, order a drink, and head directly for the beach.
On Day 2, you’ll wake up refreshed and ready to revel in those laid-back island vibes. For maximum relaxation, opt for another beach day – you’ll never get enough of those tropical breezes, gorgeous white sands, and warm turquoise water!
If you’re craving adventure, though, Day 2 is the PERFECT day to go out and chase it! To keep things as simple and stress-free as possible, choose and book an excursion ahead of time. You’ll choose from snorkeling, ATV tours, jet skiing, and so much more.
In the evening, enjoy a romantic meal at one of the dining locations at your resort, or venture into Nassau for a meal at Solemar, where you’ll find stunning ocean views, fiery sunsets, and delicious seafood.
If you have three days in The Bahamas, you’ll have yet another day to unwind at the beach, pool, or resort – OR another day to venture out! Meet some flamingoes, swim with some pigs, or check out the world-famous water parks at the Bahamar or the iconic Atlantis Resort. Even if you’re staying elsewhere, you can buy a day pass to gain access to these incredible water parks.
Your 4-5 Day Bahamas Itinerary:
So you’ve got four to five days in The Bahamas? Now we’re talking! You’ll still begin your Bahamas itinerary as outlined above – but with a few extra days, you’ll have time to really soak up those island vibes and Bahamian culture.
So far, you’ve spent time on some of the most gorgeous beaches, swam in those beautiful clear waters, and maybe even had an adventure or two. So let’s head back on land for days 4-5, where we’ll layer in some local food and authentic cultural experiences!
Authentic Cuisine in The Bahamas
Though most resorts have pretty great food, it’s time to head out and find some incredible local eats. Food is an art in the Bahamas, and many locals have perfected their recipes, especially when it comes to local and freshly caught seafood. Try the conch salad, and thank us later!
We also recommend doing a rum tasting or a foodie tour – this is a small group tour by a local guide that will take you to some of the best eateries around the island to enjoy real, authentic eats.
If You Have a Whole Week in The Bahamas:
Congratulations, my friend, you are in for a treat! While a shorter trip to The Bahamas is ALWAYS a good idea, a week is recommended for the full Bahamian experience. When you stay for a full week (or more!), you’ll have the time to take a deep dive into the history and culture of the Bahamas.
Visit the ruins of the historic Watlings Castle and Sandy Point Estate, where you’ll explore the 18th-century Loyalist Plantation of George Watling. Or, listen as knowledgeable guides tell true pirate tales from the 1600s.
Make it a mission to get lost and find your own private beach, tucked in a cove far away from the crowds. Better yet? Rent a charter and head to one of the 700 other islands for an in-depth Bahamian experience!
Of course, when you stay in The Bahamas for a week or more, you’ll also have plenty of opportunity to indulge in some authentic island cuisine. Be sure to venture off of your resort and stop in for a bite at a few local favorites, like Arawak Cay (also known as The Fish Fry!), Cafe Johnny Canoe, Under the Bridge at Potters Cay Dock, and Souse Kitchen. I promise you WON’T regret it!
What are the WORST Months for The Bahamas?
Most months are great months for The Bahamas – but avoid hurricane season (June-November) for the best chance at pleasant weather. Better choices include December through April, which offers the best weather but also higher crowds. Or, consider traveling during shoulder season for lower prices and laid-back vibes.
How Many Days Do You Need in The Bahamas?
When it comes to The Bahamas, any amount of time is worthwhile! Whether you’re stopping in for one day as part of your Caribbean cruise or spending a week or more on the island’s beautiful white-sand beaches, you’ll find plenty to do, experience, and explore in The Bahamas!
