While the island experienced a spike in popularity following the release of Elizabeth Gilbert’s 2006 memoir Eat, Pray, Love (and its big-screen adaptation starring Julia Roberts), the rich culture and astounding beauty of this small island date all the way back to the 8th century.
With its rich history, breathtaking vistas, and remote, peaceful vibe, Bali is a dream honeymoon destination for many couples. If you’re among them, check out our romantic 7-day Bali honeymoon itinerary to experience all the magic and wonder of this unforgettable island.
How Much Does A Honeymoon Cost in Bali?
As with any vacation, the cost of a honeymoon in Bali depends largely on your length of stay and accommodation preferences. If you’re traveling from North America, the bulk of your budget will likely be spent on flights. On the bright side, your budget will stretch far in Bali, which offers spectacular value for the money. On average, one week in Bali will be around 10K.
Which Month is Best to Visit Bali?
With its pleasant, tropical climate and warm year-round temperatures, Bali is a prime honeymoon destination no matter when you go. However, you’ll avoid the rainy season if you visit between April and October.
On a tight budget? Save on accommodations by traveling during the shoulder season months of May, June, or September. You’ll enjoy fewer crowds and lower prices.
How Many Days Do You Need In Bali For A Honeymoon?
If you’re visiting Bali from the Northeast, you’ll need to prepare for a 22-hour flight to get there. With that in mind, we suggest a 14-day stay to make the most of that flight time! However, if you’re short on time, 7 days are enough to see the island’s highlights and enjoy some relaxation time.
This basic 7-day Bali honeymoon itinerary hits the highlights but can be extended for a longer, more immersive stay.
Day 1: Arrival Day
On Day 1, you’ll arrive at Bali’s only international airport, I Gust Ngurah Rai International Airport. Pick up your private airport transfer, and enjoy the scenery as you make your way one hour north to Ubud.
Famous for its lush green rice fields, beautiful jungles, and stunning Hindu temples, centrally located Ubud provides the quintessential home base for day trips around Bali.
In Ubud, you’ll find all manner of romantic accommodations. For a truly peaceful jungle oasis, consider Kayon Ubud Hotel. This intimate, 5-star boutique resort is nestled into the Ubud hillside and surrounded by lush tropical rainforest. Kayon Ubud Resort is exclusively for guests 15 years of age and older, so you’re guaranteed a serene stay at this child-free resort.
Day 2: Relax and Rejuvenate
If you’re visiting from North America, your flight to Bali will take somewhere between 20 and 24 hours. Chances are, you’ll be feeling somewhat sleepy and jetlagged on Day 2.
With that in mind, plan to spend the day lounging around your resort. Sleep in, relax, rejuvenate, and enjoy the amenities at your hotel of choice. If you’re feeling up to it, indulge in some yoga or treat yourself to a romantic dinner at Terracotta Restaurant Ubud, where you’ll enjoy views of Bali’s iconic rice fields.
Day 3: Explore Ubud
As one of the most famous towns in Bali, Ubud is home to an amazing variety of ancient holy sites, Hindu temples and shrines, and beautiful green rice paddies.
On Day 3, explore Ubud’s rich heritage as you discover the Sacred Forest Monkey Sanctuary, Ubud Art Market, and Ceking Rice Terrace. Rent a scooter and venture out on your own, or book a guided tour of your favorite sites for maximum convenience and flexibility.
Day 4: Snorkeling in the Blue Lagoon
You’ve already sampled the vibrant culture of Ubud, and now it’s time to experience Bali’s magnificent marine life. Today, join your guided snorkeling tour for a fun-filled day at the Blue Lagoon in Padang Bai!
You’ll depart from Ubud and arrive at the Blue Lagoon in just about an hour. The crystal-clear Blue Lagoon is one of the best snorkeling spots in Bali. Here, you’ll see beautiful fish including lionfish, scorpionfish, butterflyfish, and more.
Day 5: Transfer to Seminyak
On Day 4, it’s time to hit the beach! Bali offers some of the most beautiful beaches in the entire world, and you’ll want to experience them in all their scenic glory.
Ubud is centrally located and provides easy access for day trips to some of Bali’s most scenic beaches. However, to truly immerse yourself in the beauty and tranquility of the area, consider transferring to a resort in luxurious Seminyak.
This buzzy resort town offers sophisticated, high-end accommodations, pristine, white-sand beaches, and vibrant nightlife. During the day, luxuriate on the sun-soaked shores of the Indian Ocean. For a taste of adventure, try a couple’s surf lesson and try your hand on the waves!
After sunset, enjoy a romantic sunset dinner cruise followed by drinks and dancing at Seminyak’s wide variety of beach bars.
Day 6: Serenity & Spas
No Bali honeymoon itinerary is complete without a rejuvenating spa experience. On Day 6, indulge yourself in a couple’s massage, facial, or other relaxing spa service at one of Seminyak’s many full-service spas.
For an unforgettable and luxurious experience, try Away Bali Spa at W Hotel, where you’ll enjoy a steam room, plunge pool, massage and facial services, and other high-end spa experiences.
Afterward, end your day with a romantic, open-air meal at Breeze at The Samaya, where you’ll enjoy delicious international fare and breathtaking ocean views.
Day 7: Experience the History and Culture of Bali
For your last day in Bali, adventurous couples may choose a full-day excursion to the island’s iconic Lempuyang Temple. This temple is one of the oldest and most culturally significant temples in all of Bali.
Or, if relaxation is the name of the game, spend your last day lounging on the beaches of beautiful Seminyak, where you’ll enjoy those unforgettable views and toast to a successful honeymoon – and each other!
